Icebuster 50 Postponed to Sunday Afternoon June 24th.

April 7th, 2012

Due to difficulties involving the access road to the speedway property, Speedway officials have made the difficult decision to postpone the 50 lap Four Cylinder Season Opener to Sunday afternoon June 24th. As a result of pending construction on at the nearby Coal Recycling Facility, the operators of that facility have informed the speedway that they will not be permitting access to the speedway over the main access road.

It had been the prior understanding that despite the pending construction, race traffic would still be able to enter the track as they have in the past. On Friday evening April 6th, Track officials were notified that this had changed and there will be absolutely no access permitted along that road.  Discussions are ongoing regarding road improvements, as well as and improving the intersection at Shade Church Rd, permitting large race car haulers to travel down Shade Church Rd, but these changes will not be completed by April 14th Opening Date. As a result of this change only 8 days before Opening Day, we feel that the best decision is to take the next few weeks studying the best way to enter/exit the facility, as well as working to improve the access roads that we still are permitted to use.
