THUNDER VALLEY RACEWAY

2010 LATE MODEL

 

1.  BODY

    A.  Must have full bodies following the dimensions provided:

        1. Wheelbase - minimum of 103".

        2. Height:

                a. Ground to top of roof - 45" minimum.
                b. Ground to top of rear of body - not to exceed 36"
                c. Ground to top of spoiler - 43" maximum.

        3. Width:

                a. Not to exceed 76".
                b. Not to exceed 82" at bottom of doors.
                c. Width at front and rear end - 72".

        4. Roof - at least 48" wide and 41" long.

        5. Spoiler:

                a. Rear spoiler must be manufactured of transparent material of adequate strength such as Lexan.
                b. Rear spoiler material maximum eight inch (8") height measured from deck to tip
                    of material. MAXIMUM seventy-two inch ( 72") width.
                c. Rear spoiler is not permitted to be suspended above the deck to create a "Wing effect".
                d. Rear spoiler must begin where quarter panels end. No extended decks permitted.

        6. WoO bodies will be allowed. They must use WoO rules and have a spoiler height of no greater than 8".

        7. The wing side boards must not exceed WoO dimensions:

                a. No greater than 18" long
                b. 8" in rear
                c. 2 ½" in front
                d. To extend the forward no more than 6" then tapering to 2 ½" in front.
                e. No more than three (3) wings.

2.  FRAMES

    A.  Any manufactured full steel frame.
    B. Bumper extension must be flush with spoiler

3.  ROLL CAGE

    A.  Must be of the four post design, 360 degrees and gusseted.
    B.  A minimum of 3 bars in driver's door and two in the passenger's side.
    C.  Bar minimum is 1 ½" diameter.
    D.  Bar wall thickness is .095 minimum.
    E.  Bars should be well padded.

4. APPEARANCE

    A. Officials reserve the right to request body or sheet metal to be replaced if it has any sharp edges or is not presentable to
         the sport.
    B.  Acceptable appearance of a car is up to the discretion of the officials.
           1. A car can be refused the right to race due to its appearance.
    C.  Cars must be neat in appearance.
    D.  Numbering must be legible, highly visible and contrasting to car.

            1. Numbers must be 18" high.
            2. Any letters must be 9" high.
            3. No trick lettering.

    E. Car number must be in upper right hand corner of windshield and left bottom corner of fuel cell in 4" high numbers for line
        up purposes.
    F.  Duplicate numbers will be modified.

            1. The number will go with the first car registered for the season with that number or based on previous attendance.

5ENGINE

    A. Can be steel or aluminum.
    B. Must be factory produced and naturally aspirated.
    C. Engines must be in manufacturer's line: GM in GM, etc.
    D. Engines cannot be set back more than 6".
    E. Forward-most spark plug behind the ball joint, not to exceed 6". Measured from centerline of spark plug and centerline of
        ball joint.
    F. No fuel injection.
    G. Engines must have starters and must be in working order.
    H. Cars must have forward and reverse working gears.
    I. Transmission must be mounted to the rear of the engine and have only one driveshaft.
    J. Flywheel and clutch must be on engine and flywheel must have teeth on it.

6.  SUSPENSION

    A. Front suspensions must be of stock configuration.
    B. No center steering.

7WHEELS

    A. Racing wheels must not exceed 14" in width.
    B. No knock off wheels.


8.  TIRES

    A. Economy racing tire: Hoosier, McCreary or Goodyear.
    B. Size not to exceed 29-11-15
    C. Tires may not exceed 16 3/4" sidewall to sidewall.


9.  FUEL SYSTEM

    A. Fuel cell must be approved and be in a metal can. Foam is recommended.
    B. Must be mounted in the trunk areas securely with a fully enclosed metal firewall between cell and driver.
    C. No nitrous oxide allowed.
    D. No nitrous type additives of any kind and/or any oxygen-producing additives of any kind.
    E. Fuel may be subject to testing.


10.  **SAFETY

    A. Window net recommended.
    B. No batteries in driver's compartment.
    C. Driveline sling is required with driveshaft painted white or fluorescent.
    D. Approved fire extinguisher (with gauge) securely mounted within driver's reach is mandatory.
    E. Approved firesuit mandatory. Fireproof gloves, hood, socks, shoes and underwear of fire retardant material are
        strongly recommended.
    F. Full-face helmet with lexan shield - SNELL 95 OR NEWER IS MANDATORY.
   
G. No oil cooler or radiator located within the driver's compartment.
    H. Tow hooks front and rear (MANDATORY) A $20 FINE WILL BE ACCESSED IF YOUR CAR HAS TO BE TOWED
        AND YOU DO NOT HAVE A TOW HOOK).
They must be outside car and strong enough to support the car.
    I. Aluminum racing seat is required. If seat does not have a headrest, one must be installed.
    J. Must have 5-part quick release harness ( 2004 or newer ) and be attached to frame of car.
    K. Highly recommended that a collapsible steering shaft be used.
    L. It is highly recommended that the driver side door bars be plated with 1/8" aluminum or 1/16" steel plate from top door bar
        to bottom of frame.



11.  WEIGHT

    A. Minimum weight limit - 2,200 lbs. with driver, without adding fuel at end of race.


12.  MUFFLERS

    A. Cars must be equipped with mufflers. Header inserts are acceptable.


13.  RADIOS/ELECTRONICS

    A. No two-way communications.
    B. No electronics of any kind, including lap timers, electronic traction control. No controlled timing device attached to
        or controlling the accelerator.

The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviations from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.
